This is a monastery whose origins are not thoroughly documented. In this area, between the 12th and 13th centuries, there was a hospice and perhaps some Benedictine settlements as well. According to Father Cyrus from Pesaro, around 1215 St. Francis arrived in the woodland of Forano where he found a small hospice for monks abandoned and crumbling with a church dedicated to the Annunciation. There, says Father Cyrus, St. Francis established a monastery.
